Peace for Your Holidays, Solidarity in the New Year

Our newsletter was sent on December 20th and looks nicer in your inbox. If you would like to be added to our email list, please sign up here: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/sign-up-for-our-newsletter-82?source=direct_link&

Message from the Chair

As we wrap up 2024, I hope you find time to rest and enjoy the holiday traditions that mean the most to you; I hope you can find joy this holiday season. I know I’ve said this before, but our Democratic community in Beaver County has truly become family to me. I’m so grateful not just for your hard work but also for our comradery, laughter, tears, and friendship.

While we didn’t get the outcomes we wanted on the national or statewide level in this last election, please take pride in how we worked together and ensured victory for both our Congressman, Chris Deluzio, and our heavily targeted State Representative, Rob Matzie. With Rob’s win, Democrats maintain a one-vote majority in the Pennsylvania State House, which is critical to protecting our rights. I am grateful to each of you for those victories.

As we move into the new year with a new administration, I’ve heard many of you asking a seemingly simple question: What do we do now?

The week after the election, I listened to an episode of the Chris Hayes podcast where he interviewed Anna Galland, the former director of Move On. They discussed lessons learned in other countries when facing similar situations. A slogan from the Brazilian resistance, translated into English, says, “No one let go of anyone’s hand.” That is what we will strive to do here. We will lock arms and fight for OUR communities, schools, jobs, environment, and rights. We will step up for our neighbors and not abandon the most vulnerable and at risk. We will call out attempts to divide and distract as ploys to enrich the powerful and their wealthy donors. Solidarity makes us stronger. Please join us by continuing to be present, visible, and vocal, and help us find more ways to show up in our community.

Pennsylvania has important judicial, municipal, and school board elections in 2025, which presents the opportunity to focus on our most local issues and races as we prepare for the critical midterm elections in 2026.

Take time to rest and recover and be ready to return to work in the new year. We have many plans, and we’ll need you more than ever. We are gathering again to celebrate each other and our volunteers at our annual Winter Party on January 25th. Ticket sales are now open for this event, and we can’t wait to see you there. Until then, I wish you all a joyous holiday season and a happy new year.

With Gratitude,

Erin Gabriel

Email volunteers@beavercountydemocrats.com or text/call Sheila at 724-601-2267 to find out how you can get involved with any of the following activities.

Winning Wednesdays will begin after the new year with guest speakers and training.

We are looking for people who:

  • Want to meet and represent the Democrats in their neighborhood by becoming a Democratic Committeeperson
  • Are interested in running for office this year or in the future
  • Have ideas for our banquet and a new summer fundraiser
  • Will help us decide which community events to attend and plan our voter outreach
We Appreciate You

Can’t volunteer? Are you with us in spirit but not proximity? Please consider donating to help sponsor the work of our volunteers. Any amount is appreciated and you can find a way to contribute that works for you!

We’ve had people from around the country send us a few stamps in an envelope or just a note of encouragement in response to this newsletter. A local family delivered food to the office during the week before the election. Our new friend Kate M. was looking for a way to make a difference and found a unique way to help.

After Kate read a social media comment requesting donations to Pennsylvania battleground counties, she adopted our Committee from solidly blue Portland, Oregon. She loves to bake and offered her friends a box of cookies for a $10 donation to the Beaver County Democratic Committee. She’s already raised $350! We are honored by the trust these new friends have placed in us.

We want you to know that we are lifted by your support and will keep working to deliver a more perfect union for our fellow Americans next year and every year. 💙
