Doing Good
black man holding a blue sign that says compassion is patriotism

If you’ve been overwhelmed by the news like us, consider taking time this weekend to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the memory of Renee Good. Get out in the community, talk to your neighbors, and do a Good deed. If you are on social media, share a photo and tag us.

We know you will have many ideas, but here are some to get you started. Visit a local library or museum to learn about their programs and how you can help. Bake some cookies or do a chore for a neighbor. Leave some food at a little pantry or some books at a little library. Invite a friend for a meal at home or at a family-owned restauraunt, local social club or legion. Shop together at local businesses. Donate or sign up to volunteer locally:

  • The Cornerstone of Beaver County
  • House of Prayer‘s food programs
  • Communicycle
  • The Humane Society or their thrift store
  • The Military Mission of Beaver County
  • The B.F. Jones Memorial Library clothing closet or little pantry
  • Casa San Jose or Literacy Pittsburgh

Don’t Miss the Party
winter party January 24th at 7 pm

On January 24th, we’d be honored if you would join us for a night of friendship and cheer at our Winter Party to celebrate our hardworking volunteers with awards and recognitions.

As long as the weather and schedules cooperate, we are expecting some special guests. We think you will want to meet them!

The fun begins at 7 pm. Your $20 ticket includes

heavy hors d’oeuvres and two drink tickets.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, so please go to ActBlue or stop by the office on Thursday between 4 and 8 pm with a check.

Run for a Seat on the Committee

Interested in becoming an active member of the Beaver County Democratic Committee? On the primary ballot this spring, Democratic voters will elect committeepeople to represent them on the county and state committees.

A committeeperson’s core duty is to get the vote out twice a year and help Democrats get elected at all levels of government. Many committee people are in touch with people in their precinct throughout the year, registering voters, educating their neighbors on the issues and candidates, and addressing local concerns with elected officials.

Upcoming Training

You can learn more about the duties of a committeeperson and how to use our digital tools to organize in your precinct at one of four trainings on January 22nd or 28, February 4th or 7th. Click here for more details and to sign up.

We’re holding an additional training on Tuesday, February 10th, from 7 to 8 pm to explain how to get your name on the ballot for committeeperson or another office, or how to help a candidate as a volunteer. Reserve your spot for the training on Mobilize. Please complete this survey to help us better understand our attendees, or if you are interested in the information but unable to attend.

Stand with the Democracy Warriors

Our Democracy Warriors are making their voice heard every Friday from 4 – 5 pm in New Brighton, even in the rain and snow. Sign up on Mobilize to receive the location and any updates as needed.

Peace Links Vigil Saturday

Our friends at Beaver County Peace Links are holding a vigil in conjunction with a national day of action to stop war at home and abroad on Saturday, January 17th, from 1 to 2 pm at the Courthouse in Beaver. Bring a sign or use one of theirs.
