Several elected positions at the municipal and school board level were vacated after the start of the petition period this past February(see below). Some of these positions have been filled with interim appointments, but the seats will appear on the general election ballot on November 7, 2023, to be formally elected by the voters.
Instead of a traditional primary, each political party nominates one candidate for each position according to 25 PS § 2953. The last day to file Nomination Certificates is September 18, 2023. The candidates selected must also complete and file with the Nomination Certificate, a Statement of Financial Interests, Candidate’s Affidavit, and the Waiver of Expense Account Reporting Affidavit.
We will follow our bylaws for the nomination process. At our full committee meeting on August 17, we will ask for the names of people interested in running for these offices. On August 24, our executive board, comprised of our officers, town chairs, subcommittee chairs, super volunteers, and representatives from labor, will meet to make the official nominations. We will work with the candidates to get their filing information to the Board of Elections. Candidates are welcome to talk with our executive board at the August 24th meeting. The Chair will make any nominations that need to occur after August 24, pursuant to BCDC bylaws.
