The Beaver County Young Democrats are hosting an opioid forum on Monday, June 13, to raise awareness about the destruction that heroin and other opiates are causing in our community.
Lou Gentile, chairman of the Beaver County Democratic Party, will lead the forum, held in the Beaver Falls Senior High School Auditorium. The event will begin at 6 pm. One of the guest speakers will be an addict who hit “rock bottom,” and who has subsequently risen to the status of a successful professional. A young mother will relate a tragedy of losing her 19 year-old son last year to heroin addiction. A representative from the Beaver County District Attorney’s office will be on hand, as well as a representative from the Single County Authority, Beaver County, to discuss various resources, along with a member of the Defense Bar.
Information presented to promote understanding and proactive behavior:
- Understand the epidemic that is threatening our communities, and what is being done to combat it.
- Gain an understanding of how addiction affects victim/family lives through real life stories.
- Have the opportunity to ask specific questions of law enforcement personnel as well as elected officials.
