April Newsletter

This newsletter was sent on April 17th. It looks better in your inbox. Sign up for our mailing list here.

April26

Thank you for being a supporter! If you are new to us, this newsletter is sent at least once a month. At election time, in May and the fall, it will be sent more frequently.

If you signed up to volunteer, you will also receive a weekly email with our events. If you signed up for an event on Mobilize, you will probably receive a weekly event email from them. You can unsubscribe at any time, and we encourage you to check our social media for the most timely updates.

There are thirty-two days before the Primary on May 19th. We have many ways for you to join us. No one has to do everything, but everyone can do something. See you soon!

Community Cleanups

For the next two Saturdays, proud Democrats are joining community cleanups around the county. Sign up at a link to join us tomorrow, Saturday, April 18th, in Midland, Monaca, Beaver, or Aliquippa or Saturday, April 25th, in Chippewa or New Brighton.

May Day Weekend

There is a national call to make May 1st a day of economic disruption. When and where you can, you are encouraged to refuse to spend money or attend work.

The Beaver County Democratic Committee recognizes that this isn’t realistic for everyone, so we are planning a weekend of solidarity AND mutual aid. We are rallying on Friday and Saturday and asking those who are able for help refilling the county’s Little Free Pantries to assist in alleviating hunger in our neighborhoods.

You are invited to begin the weekend by joining our weekly roadside rally on Friday, May 1st, from 4 – 5 pm at 3rd Avenue and 17th Street in New Brighton.

Then, on Saturday, May 2nd, several local businesses(see below) are generously allowing the Committee’s volunteers to collect non-perishable food donations during business hours. Finally, everyone is invited to attend the weekly rally at the Courthouse from 1 to 2 pm, hosted by our allies at Beaver County Peace Links, where donations will also be accepted.

  1. Old Crow Coffee Shop (8:00am-1:00pm)

1398 Merchant Street in Ambridge

  1. Uncommon Grounds (8:00am-1:00pm)

380 Franklin Avenue in Aliquippa

  1. The Fence on 7th, thanks to Renee Suhr of Stray Cat Studio (8:00am-1:00pm)

1410 7th Avenue (close to Oram’s Donuts) in Beaver Falls

  1. Beaver County Peace Links Rally (1:00pm-2:00pm)

Beaver County Courthouse

810 3rd Street in Beaver

Almost Time to Vote!

Ballots are in the Mail! You can request a ballot until May 12th. In person, mail ballot voting (Pennsylvania’s version of early voting) will be available soon at the Board of Elections.

Prepare to vote by viewing your sample ballot. If you are unsure of your precinct and polling place you can find it here. Links to the candidates websites and more voting information is on our website.

If you live in one of the following precincts and vote at the location below, the following Democrats have asked that you write them in as Committeeperson and fill out the circle next to their name:

  • Beaver 2, King Beaver Apts – Janet Hill
  • Beaver 3, Beaver Fire Dept – Iain Eastman
  • Brighton Twp 5, 2 Mile Run Shultz Lodge – Alexandra Kirsch
  • Greene Twp, Hookstown Grange – Christy Gibson
  • New Brighton 2, Tom Bishop Apts – Wayne Meyers
  • Pulaski Twp, Marion Hill Church – Hannah Brooks

If no one is running for Committeeperson on your ballot you can be seated on the Committee as a representative for your precinct if you are a registered Democrat and at least 10 of your neighbors write your name on the ballot and fill in the circle next to your name. If you would like to launch a write-in campaign, email bcdcevents@gmail.com, and we can help spread the word.

Support our Work

Our mission is to get out the vote twice a year, every year

to elect Democrats.

This is accomplished by an all-volunteer Committee

and funded by YOU!

For the next month, if you join or continue as a recurring donor of at least $15 a month, you are eligible for a free Union-printed t-shirt celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of America. (See front & back below.) If you are a continuing donor, we will contact you soon for your shirt size.

We depend on you to help us:

  • Pay for literature and texting programs to reach more voters.
  • Rent for our office, so we have a place to meet regulary and the community knows where to find us.
  • Plan safe rallies
  • Maintain and upgrade our technology and voter outreach tools.
  • Live up to our excellent reputation at the state and national level as one of the most organized and effective Committees in a competitive purple county.

Most importantly, your consistent contributions help us recruit and elect quality candidates at all levels of government who hold our values, this year and every year.

To continue our work, we need people like you. Every dollar matters; any amount is appreciated.
